Every year on March 17th, Saint Patrick’s day is celebrated, the Saint Patron of Ireland.
This video explains the history of Saint Patrick. During this day people eat Irish food, they wear green, drink green beer (or Guinness, which is also Irish)… and in Chicago they even dye the river green!
Do you remember Molly Malone ? After you have seen her picture, you can sing along her “Cockles and Mussels” song here!
If you can, try and go to an Irish pub today! You have a couple in Las Palmas.
I must finish saying “thank you” to Pili Algás, who wrote this article originally.
Happy Saint Patrick’s day!

A funny use of the word shamrock: in the film “Nuns on the run” (1990), two male thieves are hidden in a school disguised as teacher nuns.
The non-catholic thief has to give a lesson about “The Trinity”, so the catholic one explains to him very quickly:
- “You’ve got the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. But the three are one – like a shamrock, my old priest used to say. Three leaves, but one leaf.”
When the non-catholic thief is giving his lesson says:
- “God is like a shamrock… small, green, and split three ways.”
