In class we learnt how to report what people said. If you want extra practice at reporting statements and questions click here and here , and for reporting commands click here and here.
I love reading quotations by famous people. Some are quite funny and others are quite sad. Click here to open a website about famous quotations (quotes) and authors. There is a quote for every occasion: from acceptance to youth. Write a comment to say which is your favourite. We are planning to write quotations (professionally) on the corridor wall of the EOI. Which one would you like to see? Is there a class favourite?

I’ve just read some funny quotations. I laughed so much with the following one: The best way to remember your wife’s birthday is to forget it once.
- E. Joseph Cossman
I’ll tell to my husband.
This is a good one, too: My doctor gave me six months to live, but when I couldn’t pay the bill, he gave me six months more.
- Walter Mattbau
Michael Lord
Thanks for your favourites. Yes, forgetting your partner’s birthday is not a good idea! And as for the doctor, maybe the economic crisis will mean we’ll live longer???

I have read some O. Wilde’s quotations and I found interesting the one which says: “What is a cynic? A man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing”… That’s really nice, isn’t it?
Michael Lord
Thanks for your favourite. Oscar Wilde is very quotable! He has written so many comments which are perfect for quoting and always quite surprising.

Hi everybody!
I´ve read lots of quotations and many of them are very funny. For example, Openers and Introductions Quotes are hilarious. But I prefer Mahatma Gandhi quotations because they´re really interesting. At last, I´ve choosen two Woody Allen quotes:
“How to make God laugh? Tell him your future plans.”
“If you´re not failing, you´re not trying anything”
I think both quotations are two sides of the same coin. And the last one can be applied to learn a second language, don´t you think?
Michael Lord
Certainly! If we never did anything because we thought we’d fail, we’d never do anything at all. Of course, Woody Allen is a bit cynical here…
Almu
Uff, There are a lot quotes. All af them are really good and make me think so much (I´m not used to that, jjj) . I like a few that you can´t find here:
“Show me a worker with big dreams and into him you´ll find a man who can change history. Show me a man without dreams, and into him yo´ll find a simple worker.” (J.C. Penny).
“Human is a verb, not a name” (It´s was during a player I don´t remember the name).
“Start doing what is necessary, then what’s possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible. “( San Francisco de Asís).
And……. ufff I Know a lot from my grandma, but best in another time, jjjj.
Michael Lord
Thanks Almu. I wonder what your grandma has to say. Does she know any quotes in English?

I love a quote by William Arthur Ward. It says:
“The pessimist complains about the wind;
the optimist expects it to change;
the realist adjusts the sails.”
Even, there are people who became famous for their exactly last words. Watch this funny (and a bit bloody) video:

Yes, I suppose the realist is the one who keeps the optimist and pessimist balanced!
And as for the video – I never knew Death was so musical. Very funny!
