Anyway, I’m going to leave you some links where you can find authentic reviews that can help you improve your own writing:

For reviews of books you can visit the following sites:

For film reviews you can visit these other sites:

Finally, if you want to know about any music, artist, cd, etc., you can visit these websites:

Please, read or listen to one review at least, and share what you’ve found out in the comments section.

  1. I have found many interesting things about different films like Dracula in “filmcritic.com”. From my viewpoint this review explains exactly how Dracula film is and the general comments about that are objective and clear.
On the other hand, the reviews with four words only, have shocked me bacause some of them tell us exactly what the film is about, for instance, I haver considered ” Never underestimate talking toys” an accurate comment for toy story film.

  2. Hi ! I’ve never commented in a blog, but I want to recommend a book of the Brazilian writer Paulo Cohelo. Its name is The Witch of Portobello and it is about a woman born in Transylvania and the book tells her life as told by people who knew her. Its theme is about religion and the pursuit of happiness or how you give meaning to life. I liked this book because I could learn some interesting things . If you have a chance, buy it and enjoy it. ^^ !

  3. I have visited the link about reviews of books and it is interesting because you have information about some books which are interesting for reading. These reviews tell you the plot of the story and who wrote the book, so you can decide if you want to read a book or not. It is the same with the link about films. I can see which film has being more succesful.
This link has been a good idea.

  4. Well, as you suggested us, Eva, I took a look at some review pages. First of all, I have to say that I’m really surprised with the amount of reviews about books or whatever we can find on the Internet. For example, I visited http://www.reviewsofbooks.com. There I saw a title that immediately caught my attention. “The greatest Show on Hearth”. Obviously I had to click to read something about it! I was redirected to Amazon’s web page, and there I could see an author’s video, where he describes his book using images from nature. I think that this is a great idea to make your book more interesting and spectacular for the customers. On the other hand, this kind of web sites are very useful for customers, because they let them see a lot of information before selecting a good book.

  5. I‘ve been having a look at the post and I’ve found some interesting things. About book reviews, I’ve liked very much The New York Times page because it seems easier to use than the others. They are short and clearly reviews about books or films. Also http://www.reviewsofbooks.com has completes (and long) book’s reviews.
About music, http://www.rollingstone.com is good because in the same page you can hear the album and contrast the opinion they give you, but I’ve seen http://www.metacritic.com more interestingbecause you can find different opinions in the section “What the Critics Said”. In this section they link us with the best critic pages about music. Don’t miss it. It is well worth seeing.

  6. Hi!! First I want to say it is my first time writing a comment in an English blog, but I am doing my homework :D.

Well I have read a review about a book called “The wrong mother” and I could check that this review gives a lot of details about it. I believe that in general, reviews are a good idea to choose the book you want to read or the film you want to see… But in my case when I finished to read the review I thought I didn´t like that book, so sometimes reviews can make you think it´s a good book i´m going to buy it, but not in all cases.

  7. I visited The New York Times web and the I read some rewiews. I choose one “The girl who played with fire” the second book of the “Millenium Triology” which was written by Stieg Larsson.
This book is a thriller that catches you immediately. The author of this rewiew describes us an extraordinary story full of passion and violence.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that rewiews are a good way to decide which book you can buy.

  8. Hi everybody! When I want to go to the cinema or watch a DVD at home, I usually visit ‘labutaca.net’. I would like to recommend you this website, although it’s in Spanish, because you can read some reviews about films and different opinions from people who have already seen those films. Moreover, in this web there are many trailers available, and they can help you make a decision about seeing the film you were intereseted in.

  9. Hi, I have just read a review about a book called “Larry the Penguin searches for the meaning of life” and I think the book has all the ingredients to be very interesting, at least to me. It has, for instance, deep matters related to philosophy and religion. Part of the plot is mixed by humor and satire too.

  10. Hi, everyone!! I hope you are feeling wonderful!! Surfing on internet, I found an interesting webpage about books you can read. It is from the American channel CNN and the link is : http://www.cnn.com/books/reviews/. The page sounds good and there are some reviews, however, the style is awful! Well, that’s all. My best wishes!!

  11. Hi, I have visited the page “filmcritic.com” and I´ve read some reviews, but I’ll write about one of them. The tittle of the film is “Imagine that”. Eddie Murphy plays the lead toghether with Yara Shahidi, a small girl.
It´s an entertaining comedy about a finantial executive with a lot of problems at work, and his strange daughter. If you want to share a good time with your family, don´t miss it.
About review pages, I think they are very useful, because you can know what´s the plot, the cast, and an opinion about the film, before you go to the cinema or buy a DVD. But, in the other hand I stronghly believe that film industries have lost a lot of money with some reviews.

  12. Hello classmates! This afternoon off I´ve visited some links that Eva recommended us and I´ve found a lot of difficulties about how I have to book the film reviews in “The New York Times” and “The Four World Film Review-w because yoy have to register in both of them.
However, in “Filmcritic” is so easy to go to the comments section. I was surprised when I clicked in the “Whip It” title. I started to read the review about this film when I saw that the film is directed by Drew Barrymore. I didn´t know Drew Barrymore was working as a director!
Furthermore, I read the plot of the film and I was amazed because it talks about the life of a teenager who is growing up with a nepotistic and narcisistic mother and she tries to improve her future training Roller Skate, so she becomes a new roller star who is called “Babe Ruthless”
To sum up, it seems to me that the review pages are a useful way to find all kind of English films, books and music you can imagine.
All in all, I realised that you must work hard learning more vocabulary to understand English pages.
