The world has been shaken by the news from South Africa. A person has died, but a myth has been born. The world is crying  Nelson Mandela’s death. But, do you know why? Do you know he was?

Although I resist believing that there is someone of you who don’t know he was, I am going to help you know him. He was imprisoned by South African government where all their members were part of the apartheid movement. After 27 years in prison he was released on 11th  February 1990.

In those days the scenario was a country where the majority of the population was black people who hated white people and vice versa. But in that moment the figure of Nelson Mandela emerged telling to the country some sentences like this “If you want to make peace with your enemy, you have to work with your enemy. Then he becomes your mate”, and he did it working with that government (white people) to abolish the apartheid.

He received more than 250 honours, including Peace Nobel Prize, the US Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Soviet Order of Lenin. Beyond this, he managed to unit a country where was full of hatred, racism and violence. He got it through forgiveness and sympathy towards white people, and the most difficult thing, making to understand that to rest of black population.

Finally, if you are interested in getting more information about his life is highly recommendable to watch a film about him, “Invictus”. I promise you will love him from then.
