5th November is Bonfire Night, or Guy Fawkes Night, in the UK.  This is a celebration of the time a Catholic rebel tried to kill the entire Protestant British government but failed and as a result was sentenced to death.  Now the British celebrate the death of Guy Fawkes!  Nowadays, nobody thinks much about the origins but just enjoys a firework display.
