Here are the poems we looked at in class. You can listen to me reading them in these Soundcloud links:

At First It Didn’t Matter

The Vampire

Colonel Fazackerley Butterworth Toast

Try to read the parts you practised in class and copy my pronunciation. Take your time and speak clearly. Can you copy the poem’s rhythm?

And here’s the wonderful short film we watched of Vincent by Tim Burton.

Happy Halloween.

Are you ready? We are! Just a short post to remind you that we are back at school and eager to start learning with you again. Ready, steady, go!!

Like many of the great discoveries made by the human being, a chance has allowed the creation of a material that surely will revolutionize the future of humanity.

Graphene is a material that comes from graphite and has an atomic structure composed of carbon and hydrogen, arranged in a honeycomb structure and has amazing features, such as: high thermal and electrical conductivity, flexibility, hardness, resistance, lightness, etc. And if it were not enough, Graphene is also believed to have the ability to repair itself, is it not amazing?

Can you imagine screens a few millimeters thick? Or batteries that last much longer? Super processors barely heated? Graphene has many applications in all fields of modern science. One example is in biotechnology, through which scientists could make progress in the fight against terminal illnesses or even implants to replace damaged tissues at a cellular level.

0010260417Advances in communications would also be unimaginable. The concept of computers, mobile devices, TVs, etc. would be reduced to a single interface capable of communicating all kinds of signals at unthinkable speeds.

Energy consumption that comes from fossil fuel worldwide would change drastically due to that graphene is able to absorb sunlight and transform it into electrical energy, allowing a family to be energy self-sufficient in solar periods. The use of Graphene contributes to fight against climate change.

To conclude, Graphene seems to have no limits. Every day this material is investigated, discovering new and amazing qualities that surely in the near future will make humanity take a historical leap in its evolution.

Would you like to spend a day in the best places in Gran Canaria? Come to the North of Gran Canaria and enjoy visiting wonderful places, eating traditional products or taking a bath in its natural pools and beaches.

The northen route leads us from Arucas to reach Agaete, driving across Santa María de Guía and Gáldar.

The first stop in the journey is Arucas. The old city , full of history,  where we’d walk through  the streets of stones surrounded by colorful houses with attractive balconies until arriving at the gothic church which gives the city a magnificent image.

In the itinerary from Arucas to Guía we’ll stop in a small cove called ‘ El Puertillo’. There we’ll take the first bath or simply we’ll have a ‘tapa’ while we relish) the breathtaking views from the sea.

Just 10 minutes from El Puertillo  we’ll arrive at Santa María de Guía.  Every Sunday the city sets a traditional market where the visitor or tourist can buy and taste the local products like the cheese called ‘ queso de flor’.

Once we leave Santa María de Guía , we’ll visit Gáldar where the first compulsory place  is the Painted Cave. Inside the archeological museum, we’ll go back to the prehispanic period and will know how the native population lived.

At the end of the journey we find Agaete. There we’ll go across the village to visit the Valley of Agaete. In the Valley, we’ll be able to contemplate the beauty of its rural landscape and will taste Agaete coffee.

Leaving the Valley back, we’ll go back to the village center to enter in the ‘ Huerto de las Flores’. This particulary garden with a lot of varieties of exotic plants was the meeting point of canarian poets like Tomás Morales and Alonso Quesada.

Finally to finish the journey we’ll go to ‘ Las Nieves’ port where we’ll taste the fresh fish and will take a bath with the breathtaking views of the cliff of Tamadaba.

Can you imagine entertainment without watching series? .The consumption of TV series has been growing over the years. Never there have been more series in the history of television than in 2015. The success of the series lies mainly in the great diversity of genres; there are series for all tastes (zombies, superheroes, and villains) and ages.

This success can be explained because of several reasons, the first reason I see is there are new ways of watching series. Watching TV series’ on the internet is a popular past-time. As a result, one does not need to download them, because streaming the series could be legal, easier and quicker. Yomvi is a well known platform for watching your favorite series.  Thousands of series and new episodes are available for streaming.  Furthermore, Netflix is a monthly online television service; currently it has more than 60 million users. Both of them are platforms of online television in which you can choose where and when you see TV.

Apart from that, let me show you a new term; Spin- off .A spin -off in television is a new series which contains characters, a different character or theme elements from a previous series. For example “Better call Saul” is a spin off from” Breaking Bad”.

Finally, today I am going to recommend you Outlander .It is the first in a series of eight historical multi-genre novels by Diana Gabaldon. It is a mix of historical, romance, adventure, and science fiction/fantasy elements.  It is an entertaining and gripping series and it has just finished the first season, so hurry up in order to watch the second season soon.

Looking forward to finding that peaceful place to enjoy as a local citizen?

I think the Canary Islands is the answer to all your wishes.

Nowadays  it is very easy to get lost when we are booking our holiday.  There are too many hunters who look for the best businesses, such as tour operators, agencies or intermediaries. For this reason,  we visit forums or web pages where we can find the opinion of someone else.

To help you choosing the best trip destination I will show a little bit of the place where I live, so it is you who decides. It is called Canary Islands, the Spanish paradise, long time ago we were known as “The Lucky Islands”.

We enjoy fabulous weather all over the year. It is 26 degrees roughly almost most of the time and it rarely rains. In here, you will find one of the best sunsets in the world.

Apart from our beautiful beaches you can enjoy the attractive view in the forest forest. High mountains that, in clear days, act as balconies from where you can see the rest of the archipelago.

If you are a food passionate I am sure you will be delighted with our lovely traditional dishes. Fresh, juicy and tasty vegetables make up our diet.

For these and many more reasons, you might want to visit The Canaries.

Do not let anyone tell you about it.
